Yes, we’re still a little bit obsessed with everything Oscars here at BettyConfidential, but come on! Can you really blame us? To fuel our fixation just a little bit more, we’ve chatted with Oscar Blandi Salon’s lead colorist, Kyle White, on the hottest hair color trends seen on the red carpet this season. From Naomi Watts’ bold blonde coif to Jessica Chastain’s sultry red curls, read on for some serious hair care secrets!

This award season, bigger and bolder hair color proved to be ongoing trend. And just because the glitz and glamour of the Oscars is all over, that doesn’t mean that we’ll see this bright color trend going away anytime soon.

“Whether the color was red like Jessica Chastain, blonde like Naomi Watts, or brunette like Anne Hathaway, color was solid and strong with no obvious highlights. Blondes were light, brunettes were deep and rich, and reds were vibrant,” White says.

Maintaining freshly colored locks can prove to be a challenge, so to create your own red carpet-worthy look, here are some of White’s color-saving tips to keep your locks bright and beautiful:

1. To keep your hair color in perfect shape, make sure you do a clarifying treatment like an apple cider vinegar rinse the night before any big event. This vinegar rinse works to remove any product buildup that can dull shine; it also helps the hair absorb styling acids and serums more effectively.

2. Follow your clarifying treatment with a deep conditioner. Deep conditioner deposits moisture in the hair cuticles, making the hair shaft smooth for maximum light reflection. Then, simply heat a tablespoon of coconut oil in the microwave and comb it through damp hair for fifteen minutes. Afterwards, wash with shampoo.

3. The day of any big event, have a gold gloss applied prior to styling your hair. Glosses tightly seal the hair cuticles, leaving your locks nice and shiny!
